Catherine

From February 2003 until January 2008 I worked at the Royal College of Midwives as Information Systems Manager. I was declared redundant in October 2007 (a sudden decision was made to close the library) and I am now working as Library and Information Services Manager at the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, a mental health and learning disabilities trust in the North East. Previously I had managed the library at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust Lambeth Hospital site, for the seven years from October 1995 until January 2003.

In November 2001 I obtained the M.Sc. Information Science (Computerised Library Systems) from University College London, with Distinction.

My professional interests include web site design, web usability, e-resources, library system technologies, information literacy, and clinician information use.

In addition to my library work I also run a small proofreading and editing service, Proof of Concept.

My main diversions are choral singing and walking. I used to be a regular member of the choir of St Luke's, Chelsea, whose web site I edited. I now sing in the choir of St Nicholas's, Guisborough and with the Cleveland Philharmonic Choir. I share my house with two cats. I am a keen cyclist and advocate of cycle commuting. One of the benefits of leaving London is that I have a lovely journey to work past sheep, horses, cows and nurseries, with views of the Cleveland Hills, on the days when I don't have to drive to meetings off-site.
